Destination Essays
I oversee content for Google Destinations, Google’s travel immersive launched from search. My team has created essays for more than 5000 destinations. The essays replaced Wikipedia content and appear on multiple surfaces, including Google’s travel immersive page, knowledge panel, and maps. I honed the voice and tone, which appeals to both travelers and general-interest users. The following golden set destinations which I wrote are still live in our product.
Place summaries for maps
Place summaries are succinct, factual descriptions of points of interest, created with the goal of helping users make better, faster decisions about where to go. Place Summaries cover verticals including restaurants, nightlife, shopping, hotels and attractions in key markets across the globe. They appear in multiple Google products, including Maps, Search and apps like Google Trips.
Travel Experiences
Experiences content provide rich, diverse information for a range of activities, from music to shopping to sports. The product brought to life what was previously a static list of POIs, inspiring travelers and showcasing a destination’s many dimensions. For this project, I managed content production, metadata curation, and algorithmic improvements. Below are examples I created for our Maui golden set.
